Because it meets EPAL’s specification, it qualifies for the European Pallet Pool (EPP) — the system that lets businesses swap pallets one-for-one rather than track ownership of individual units.
Built as a four-way entry pallet, the EUR/EPAL pallet measures 1,200 mm × 800 mm × 144 mm (47.2 in × 31.5 in × 5.7 in) and is assembled from wood using exactly 78 specially designed nails, driven in a fixed, prescribed pattern.
